My husband commutes into work by way of two skinny tires and a gigantic backpack. And because of this lately he has been all excited about purchasing some new biking gear. Specifically he has been in search of a jacket or what he refers to as a "decent shell to block the elements." He found one on Sunday- hallelujah- because it's October and I worry.
Not much makes this guy grin from ear to ear. It's the marine in him. Or just the Andy in him, not sure which. He can be plenty happy inside but his outsides are the perfect flat effect like he's contemplating the ticker on CNN. As you can see, however, this jacket did the trick. This is one happy making shell. I mean, what's not to love? It's neon yellow with fluorescent piping and did you know you can unzip the sleeves to make it a vest on those really long rides that may require some level of layering and then peeling off? My favorite is that the tag is a flimsy wisp of transparent rubber. As if one more tenth of an ounce will throw off its aerodynamic properties and thus force the rider into a ditch or a trail head. These shell makers, they do think of everything. I'm definitely glad he'll be warm on his trek into work but mostly I will adore seeing this happy face each night when he gets home.

Are you really that close to DC? What is there fun up there for little people? I keep wanting to take David to do something fun, but all I know of is the zoo.
that jacket could repel some monsters!
t- thank you. i happen to agree. :)
monica- it's a long bike ride...my husband is in spectacular shape but we're really not that far from the city. haven't had too much time to scope it out but we'll come up w/something for the kids around here. museums, parks, we've got it all.
pjm- you bring up an excellent point. perhaps g could don one of these at night?
