On the First Day of December

G found where I was hiding his Christmas presents (the guest bedroom, I lose points for unoriginality). When I broke the news to him he'd have to wait until Christmas to open these treasures he simply scurried his little body away from the loot and out of the guest bedroom. Much too easy. With a raised eyebrow and suspicious heart, I peeked around the corner to see him happily pouncing on the couch.

Untrusting Soul of a Mom: Where are you going?
Innocent Youth: To the couch.
Jackhole Mom: Why?
Sweetness On Earth and Goodwill Toward Man: To wait for Christmas.

Have mercy. Am I going to have a big stinking pile of coal in my stocking this year or what?
Merry First Day of December, you guys. Only 34,600 more minutes to go.

We've had a few of these moments this week. The middle one-prone to tempe tantrums, has-on more than one occasion asked for something and when he hears no, simply walks away saying, 'Ok". I sit stunned. Then I wait for the other shoe to drop. It hasn't yet. He's just that good lately.
No guilt mama. You are conditioned not because they are bad, just because they are kids and sometimes they surprise you.;)

David climbs now, and I'm having a hard time putting the presents somewhere he can't get them. He finds the box every time I move it, but I catch it fast enough so that he doesn't see what's inside. He'd not be a happy little boy if he found out that Wall-E is indeed in the house (he has Wall-E undies and for some reason thinks that means he has the movie as well and gets frustrated when he can't find it) and he didn't know it, and worse-can't have it yet.

cris- it certainly must be the season. aside from these months coinciding w/deer season, it's my favorite time of year. and now, after adding children, it's gone up a few notches.

monica- something tells me your little man is going to find wall-e when you least expect it. i'd recommend someone else's house :)
